Van Leusden B.V. produces and supplies specialized lifting equipment and components to various markets worldwide, including the maritime and offshore sector, industry and oil and gas industry.
Écart has participated from 2002 to 2010 in Van Leusden. Together with Écart, Marius van der Hoeven bought in 2002 all shares from the former DGA, Koos van Leusden. Soon after the acquisition the company faced two hard years due to stagnant market caused by lack of investment in the dredging industry. Increased international sales efforts resulted in a revenue increase from 2006 onwards. Rapid growth in 2008 created a need for working capital. Écart provides the required capital through a subordinated loan. A finance gap occurs once more in the course of 2009.
Ronald Bergsma, hired as an interim manager on the initiative of Écart, manages to restore the company’s profitability. Considering the company’s potential, Bergsma acquired in 2010 – together with the management team and an informal investor – all shares in the company. The share transfer took place on August 30, 2010. Since that time, Bergsma is also managing director of Van Leusden Nederland.
